These organisations aim to encourage the use of a higher quality standard of jewellery on offer by piercing studios (not all titanium is made equal, the carat of your gold matters, threading is important, and polish is key!), but also to enforce stricter hygiene practices within the studio, and they also host annual conferences encouraging piercers to explore various piercing methods - all of which were previously unknown to Amy's apprenticeship curriculum.

The outdated notion of "if you can pinch it, you can pierce it" was being abandoned, along with the use of cheap Chinese-made costume jewellery and piercing guns (such as those manufactured by Studex and Caflon), which had proved to be wildly dangerous. Even on ear lobes.

Upon this realization, Amy discovered that much of what she had learned during her apprenticeship was outdated and suddenly it made sense why so many of the studios clients experienced healing issues and overall dissatisfaction.

Since the body piercing industry in England is poorly regulated by the British Government (due to often outdated council bylaws and nationwide government recommendations), she noticed a significant need for Professional Piercing in the local area that not only knew about, but actively practiced these updated and rapidly developing industry standards - as set forth by the APP and UKAPP.

Recognizing the need for professional piercing standards in her area, Amy sought to educate her mentor studio, but was met with resistance.
"People don't want to pay for that, this is the way we've always done it, and that's how we want you to do it aswell"...so Amy decided to pursue her own path. In search of a better environment to practice her services, she found a home at a local tattoo studio, where she established her own brand, Amy Jo Piercing.

As the first body piercer in Huddersfield to introduce luxury piercing and high-quality body jewellery, Amy dedicated herself to educating local consumers on the importance of quality jewelry, the relevance of aseptic techniques, the dangers of piercing guns, and the suitability of different styles and materials for body jewellery.

As consumers took Amy's educational information on board and, incidentally, were pleased to discover not only the new jewellery styles and possibilities previously unavailable to them (you don't have to start off with something plain anymore!), business grew, trust was built, a handful of neighbouring studios began to follow suit, and slowly, Amy Jo Piercing changed the face of the Huddersfield piercing scene.

She remains committed to staying updated on industry practices through workshops, conferences, and refresher courses, and assists with moderating the UK Piercing Professionals networking and learning forum. She is First Aid & CPR Trained, Bloodborne Pathogen & Cross Contamination Trained, and DBS Checked.

In 2020, in order to better express her brand image and welcome a wider audience into the mainstream piercing era, Amy further branched out from the tattoo studio to go completely solo in her own little studio, which is where Amy Jo Piercing has been operating successfully - until 2024 when she made the decision to further diversify, offering more services of the highest quality and care, opting to rebrand the studio to reflect the growth and diversity, as "Timeless Studios".
